Sweet Thanks - Work of Art Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

Well tomorrow marks the 1st day of school & the last day for summer holidays with my babies home. We are rather excited in our house, or mommy is anyway (wink wink). I will miss my babies being home but I have a laundry list of things to do around here (including laundry)! I am sure I will be much more productive while the kids are all learning away at school! And I may just have a wee bit more time to stamp too! Yahoo!

I am super-dee-duper excited to share with you today this sweet thank you treat I created while playing in my craft room today. Doesn't it look so yummy? It kinda follows the back to school theme that's happening right now, as it displays all the fun primary colours! Not gonna lie, but these sour jelly belly beans were the inspiration for my card today, so why not pair the two together for a nice thank you? As for the mason jar display, who can resist? Mason jars are so cool these days! To be honest I never thought the words "mason jar" and "cool" would ever go in the same sentence, but they so do!

The stamp set I used for today's project is actually one I've had for quite a while but never really put to good use. I'll have to ink it up some more as the possibilities are endless with this one. Have a peek at the "Work of Art" Stamp set below and you'll see what I mean.

Here's another card sample from the Stampin' Up website which displays this great set.

As for today's Stampin' Up colours I went for Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush, and Dapper Denim. Again the rainbow I chose today was inspired by the sour jelly bellies I picked up in the bulk section of my local grocery store. Yummy!

Now to decide who I should shine some thanks on! For now I will thank you for stopping by my blog! Have a virtual treat on me! And if you are interested in stamping treats then just click on the supplies below. They will take you to my online 24-7 Stampin' Up shop!

Happy Back To School!

Mixed Media Art - With Stampin' Up Swirly Bird Bundle

Hi everyone! I am posting a wee bit of a different project today. I started today's creation with the intent to make yet another watercolour card. However, as my creative process flowed in an indiscriminate manner, this whimsical framed piece of mixed media art came about!

At first glance, you may not even quite recognize the Stampin' Up Bundle that I used here. Saying that, by utilizing a few different techniques, I was able to make this bundle of products look more organic than the usual. If you check out the Swirly Bird Bundle of products (pictured below) you can see where my artful images in today's project came from.

I have been much intrigued with masking and watercolouring these days. I have also recently been in awe with mixed media art. So as today's aquapainters, water spritzers, blender pens, markers & inks flowed, this gem became much too pretty to fold up into a card. I had also purchased a few frames for my stash of things to be stamped a while back, & so voila! The two (artwork & frame) became one!

Of course my sweet daughter was stamping alongside me today. She was quick to claim my creation as belonging to her. Hence where the phrase on today's piece came from. I then claimed her work of heart. Mommy is going to have to purchase a special frame for this one. I think hers turned out better than my own. She has been learning techniques with me over the summer. Did I say she is only 5? I may have to make her a watermark for her future images!

Today's project is also my submission for the Global Design Project (#GDP049). This week's theme over on the GDP blog is a colour challenge. Just click on the picture below to check out all the fun fab ideas being shared over there using this great Stampin' Up colour combo!

Lastly, if you are wondering where the pretty pear fibres on today's project came from, well I had some pear pizzazz ribbon saved in my stash of goodies. I pulled the ribbon apart to get the nice soft strands of grass that you see here today. My white gel pen & long lost sewing machine were also put to use to finish things off! I had not used my sewing machine in over 10 years! Oops! Guess what? It still works! More sewing on papercrafts to come! Yay for me!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! & I hope you leave inspired to mix up some media, or maybe even pull out your sewing machine!
